Topics of the workshop are media landscape of Myanmar and abroad, successes and challenges of media strategies, ways to engage with the media as well as ethical considerations. The aim of the workshop is to strengthen the skills of the members of Parliament on how to use the media for their parliamentarian work and to communicate their agendas to their people. Furthermore the educational material that has been developed through the HSF cooperation with the Hluttaws were also distributed and explained. So they can be used also in the future by members of parliament and distributed via them to the citizens.

The trainers of the workshop included U Myint Win from the Myanmar Press Council, Martyn Brown from Foundation Hirondelle and former Parliamentary Journalist at Westminister and U Than Htike Oo from Ji Ji Press. The workshop was funded through the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We sincerely thank all the Members of Parliament that took their time over the weekend to attend this two day workshop.

The Hanns Seidel Foundation - Myanmar cooperates closely with the Myanmar Parliament (Hluttaw) on supporting a people oriented Parliament. Through this project HSF works closely with the administration of the Hluttaws developing activities regarding the public relations and the communications of the Hluttaws. In the past this included the strengthening of the visitor service and the preparation and publication of brochures and political educational material. The project also includes technical inputs from the German Bundestag and Bundesrat.
