Social Entrepreneurship Development Programme, Phayao province

From 5th - 7th October 2020, School of Political and Social Science, University of Phayao held the workshop on “Social Entrepreneurship Development Programme” which was the 2nd event in a series of trainings co-organized by the Hanns Seidel Foundation, Thailand.

The Resident Representative of Hanns Seidel Foundation Thailand/Laos Dr. Axel Neubert gave a speech on 6th October 2020 about social entrepreneurship as one of resolutions for Thailand’s economy after the Covid-19 pandemic to the participants from Phayao province. They consisted of local entrepreneurs and local government staff members from 10 communities in Phayao. The lecturers for this workshop are professors from School of Political and Social Science, University of Phayao, including Dr. Rattiya Fisher, Asst. Prof. Dr. Chatthip Chaichakan, Asst. Prof. Dararat Khampeng and Assoc. Prof. Prayong Chandaeng

The aims for this workshop are to offer a basic understanding of the concept of “Social Entrepreneur” and to enhance the capacity of social entrepreneurship through local government organisation, as well as to equip the participants with essential skills for becoming a social entrepreneur. The participants would learn to develop their own plans in order to utilize capital resources for serving the needs of their communities.

The participants also explored a successful practise of social entrepreneurship at Baan Sankong, Mae Rai sub-district, Mae Chan district, Chiang Rai province so that they could apply this model to their plans for society. They mentioned that this workshop was utterly useful as it helped them see more opportunities as well as exchange opinions and experiences that would greatly benefit their local communities in Phayao province in the future.
