Online panel discussion on “The Future of the Personal Self: Digitalization and You After the Lockdown”

The Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG), with the cooperation between the Asian Governance Foundation (AFG) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF), organized the online panel discussion on “The Future of the Personal Self: Digitalization and You After the Lockdown” on 18 December 2020. This was the last discussion in cooperation between the CPG and the HSF in the year 2020.

On Friday, 18th December 2020, 3.00 – 5.30 p.m. (Bangkok time), the German – Southeast Asian Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG), the Asian Governance Foundation (AFG) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF), Thailand co-organized an online panel discussion via Facebook livestream on the topic “The Future of the Personal Self: Digitalization and You After the Lockdown.”

The panelists of this discussion were all professors and experts from related fields around the world. They consisted of Dr. Nico Carpentier, the Extraordinary Professor from Charles University, Czech Republic, Dr. Florian Sprenger, the Professor for Virtual Humanities from Ruhr University Bachum, Germany, Dr. Soraj Hongladarom, the Director of the Center for Ethics of Science and Technology from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, Dr. Natalie Pang, the Senior Lecturer from the National University of Singapore, Mr. Pindar Wong, the Chairman of Verifi LTD, Hong Kong, and Dr. Thitirat Thipsamritkul, the Lecturer from the Faculty of Law, Thammasat University, Thailand.

The participants joined the discussion with high enthusiasm. As the rapid changes of technological development and usage, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic period, have created many uncertainties in future life of human, a critical evaluation of the role of digital media is essential for understanding the current digital condition that will shape the future. In this panel, all thinkers analysed the role of digital media as well as the impacts of digitalization towards human society. This will help broaden our knowledge about possible ways of life in the future after the pandemic is over.
