The Hanns Seidel Foundation, together with the German-Southeast Asian Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG), hosted the so-called Academy on Migration and Displacement from 9 to 19 May 2022.

The short course brought together academics, lawyers, and practitioners working in the area of migration and displacement to lecture and discuss various issues, including the followings:

-        Anthropological questions and problems of migration and displacement;

-        Critical questions of migration as a challenge to basic values;

-        Anti-migrant sentiment in Europe is our increased focus;

-        Immigrant Integration: Concepts, Policies, and Challenges;

-        Nexus between migration and development;

-        Migration in the wake of global challenges: climate change and pandemics;

-        Impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on migration and in migration communities; and

-        Refugee protection on the ground

Participants in this short course were selected from various fields of work and study, ranging from lawyers to psychiatrists and from Ph.D. candidates and university lecturers to members of civil society organizations. We hope that the participants have deepened their knowledge and understanding, that will allow them to further advocate for, and realize the rights of the migrants and refugees.
