The Myanmar Responsible Tourism Awards (MRTA) were held at the Park Royal in Yangon this year with the attendance of over 200 people. This year’s eight categories included Best Responsible Accommodation Provider (large, small), Best Community Involvement Project, Best Responsible Tourism Operator, Best Responsible Start-Up, Best Practices in Child-Safe Tourism, Best responsible practice in carbon footprint reduction in tourism, Best responsible innovative product development and Best responsible awareness-raising project in tourism. Winners have put special efforts into making tourism a great experience for their clients, while keeping any negative social and environmental impacts to a minimum.

The Hanns Seidel Foundation Myanmar supported the event contributing both financially and in-kind through assessments of applicants’ tourism businesses.
