The conference was organised to enable improved cooperation between the different country offices in the region and the HSF headquarters. For that matter a range of different workshops, presentations and discussion rounds were conducted. Christian Berger, the German ambassador to Vietnam, shared his insights and views on the German-Vietnamese partnership and developments in the wider region. Jörg Rüger, First Secretary for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Urban Development at the Embassy of Germany in Hanoi demonstrated the environmental challenges Vietnam and its neighbours face in particular in regard to climate change. Dr. Susanne Luther, director of the institute for international cooperation stated that the event proved to be successful in providing a venue where each country office could showcase their activities, partners and approaches. The different measures engendered a fruitful exchange of ideas. Moreover, strategies for tackling common problems and obstacles were fleshed out.
