Federalism Academy Module 1

As the very first activity after the Myanmar New Year Holidays, the first module of Federalism Academy took place. The Federalism Academy is jointly organized by Yangon University Open Political Society, Centre for Development and Ethnic Studies and the Hanns Seidel Foundation.

The programme composed of three modules: the second module will be in May and the last one in October. Each module takes five days and most of the participants are university students. The programme is designed to get a better and profound knowledge on federalism, Myanmar historical debates on federalism and research methods.

The first module of the Federalism Academy successfully concluded 26 April. During the first module, 25 participants had a chance to learn the basic concept and idea of democracy, federalism, history of Myanmar and current political debates.

On the last day of the programme, a visiting lecturer from the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Dr. VN Alok, joined and presented on India Federalism, its setting and structures.

We would like to than Dr. Alok for his contribution and hope the participants got deeper understanding on his lecture.
