From 11 to 15 July 2022, the Hanns Seidel Foundation together with the Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor of Lao PDR (OSPP) held a Discussion Workshop on “Review of the Legal Compliance of the Draft Law on Public Administration”.

The event was held at the Grand Riverside II Hotel Vang Vieng, Vientiane Province, under co-chair of H.E Mr. Konggy Yangcheu, Vice Minister of Justice, H.E Mr. Nisith Keopanya, Vice Minister of Home Affairs and Mr. Khamphet Somvolachit, Vice President of OSPP.

The aim of this workshop was to check the legal compliance and to improve the content of the 7th draft of the Law on Public Administration. The goal was to make the draft more concise before compiling results into the 8th draft, which is planned to be presented to the Government Meeting by the end of July, to the National Assembly in August and to the Lao National Assembly Meeting for adoption in November-December 2022.

More than 50 participants from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Office of the President, OSPP, the National Assembly as well as Senior Retired Professors attended this important event.
