Hanns Seidel Foundation Indonesia’s Resident Representative, Dr. Daniel Heilmann, paid a courtesy call to the newly appointed head of the training and education agency of the Indonesian National Police, Police Commissionaire General Drs. Arief Sulistyanto. The meeting aimed at deepening the cooperation between the two institutions.

Lemdikpol is the national coordinating agency for education and training of all police forces in Indonesia. HSF has cooperated with the Indonesian National Police (INP) for over a decade and the ties with Lemdikpol have been intensified since 2015. Lemdikpol expressed their satisfaction with the existing cooperation. The exchange programme to Munich, Bavaria of police master students for an internship program was particularly highlighted as a cornerstone of the cooperation. The programme assists the Indonesian police to strengthen their capacities, particularly on citizen friendly policing and police station management.

Future Cooperation

Lemdikpol expressed their interest to host a regional police conference on transnational crime. The conference will serve as a forum for the exchange of experience and knowledge between participating police forces from ASEAN countries. To this end, the Indonesian National Police seeks to strengthen the capacity of the national crime investigation units through better regional information exchange and the establishment of best practices. The conference is scheduled to take place in Jakarta in November 2019.
