Workshop on Social Enterprise Empowering
Best Practice of Social Enterprise Empowering by Local Government

The Hanns Seidel Foundation, in cooperation with School of Political and Social Science, the University of Phayao, organized a workshop on “Best Practice of Social Enterprise Empowering by Local Government” on 24 – 26 November 2020 at Chiang Mai. This is the fourth and the last workshop in the series of local innovation held in the northern part of Thailand.

This workshop aims to enhance knowledge about local innovation management as well as improve proficiency and ethics for local government officials in supporting innovators and entrepreneurs in their local communities. The workshop provided creative activities that encourage the participants to invent sustainable innovation management process for Thai society.

The participants included local government officials and local leaders from various provinces in the North of Thailand including Phayao province, Lampang province and Phrae province. They actively participated to this workshop so that they would develop their own leadership and capacity, as well as gain useful knowledge for supporting local innovations in their local areas.

The project coordinator Asst.Prof. Dararat Khampeng gave a lecture about local innovation management.

Not only joined the workshop, but the participants also went to study the best practice of social enterprise empowering at Saraphi district. The Chompu Municipality is one of the most successful local government organizations which has gained a lot of awards for inventing advantageous innovations throughout these recent years. The participants got an important chance to exchange their ideas and comments with the Mayor and other officials, which led them to further developing plans for their local society such as water management and reusable facilities. This knowledge is one of the essential factors that will help improve life quality of people in Thai society.

The final project of the workshop series for local innovation ended successfully with impressive results as the participants throughout the four projects have received knowledge, experiences, ethics and skills that will benefit in enhancing living quality for people living in local communities in the northern part of Thailand.
