Climate change is a significant threat to the working lives of people living in the Mekong Delta – especially for those whose income depends on agriculture and aquaculture. Droughts, flash floods and salinity intrusion are among the most severe challenges. Many households in the region are already threatened in their existence.
HSF Vietnam supports its long-term partner ILSSA in conducting empirical research on this important topic that will eventually lead to concrete policy recommendations for sustainable and decent work strategies that counter the negative effects of climate change in the Mekong Delta.
During the workshop that took place in Ca Mau City, representatives of the provinces in the Delta Region, various associations and think tanks provided input for the research. The research results will be published by the end of the year and serve as basis for fundamental policy recommendations.
