Competition for green business ideas in Vietnam
Climate Launchpad Vietnam 2024 National Final
On September 6th, the offline National Final event was organised in Hanoi with the attendance of more than 60 participants including 10 CLP national finalists, representatives from international organisations and NGOs, the Climate Change Working Group in Vietnam, local media agencies, as well as government agencies such as Vietnam Climate Innovation Center, Department of Science and Technology, and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology (VUSTA). The National Final provided an exciting platform for the CLP national finalists to present their innovative business ideas in different sectors such as new materials, FMCG, agriculture, food, textile, and waste management. After pitching their business ideas, all finalists were faced with challenging questions from the panel of judges concerning various aspects of green business such as the feasibility, profitability, and sustainability of their business models.
Team AirX Carbon won first prize for their sustainable pallets from agricultural waste. Taking second prize was Team FUWA Biotech who produces bio-detergent from pineapple peels by applying bio-enzyme technology. Finally, third prize was awarded to team Sac Moc Tinh for their eco-friendly technology to produce food from agricultural by-products.
After the National Final, all 10 finalists were given a series of customised coaching and mentoring sessions conducted by CLP Vietnam’s experienced experts. These sessions were tailored to meet the unique needs and requirements of each competing startup, taking into account their current stage of business development and target market. The coaching sessions focused on enhancing technical knowledge in innovation and cleantech business strategies for startups, improving the start-ups’ capability to access finance, greenhouse gas emission calculation and management, and using sustainable design for their product development. Particularly, the 3 winners of CLP National Final were given technical support in preparation for their pitching session at the Asia Pacific Regional Semi-Final.
