More women in politics, a stronger Vietnam
Advancing Women’s Political Participation in Vietnam
HSF
On 18 March 2025, more than 80 female delegates from 18 southern provinces gathered for a workshop on Advancing the Political Participation of Women in Vietnam. The event was co-organised by the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) and the Office of the National Assembly (ONA), in cooperation with the Committee of Delegate Affairs.
With national elections approaching in May 2026, the workshop aimed to inspire and equip potential female candidates with practical skills and insights. Senior leaders, including Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Vice-Chairman of the Committee of the Delegate and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Mai Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the Committee of Culture and Social Affairs, highlighted the essential role of women in legislation, policy-making, and social progress. The Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City Dr. Josefine Wallat opened the workshop by reflecting on the status quo of women in politics in Germany.

Sessions featured candid discussions with experienced female deputies, such as Mrs. Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, the Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong Province, who shared personal stories, challenges, and strategies for balancing public duties with private life. Topics included debating, communication, and handling pressure—core skills for effective parliamentary work.
Through such initiatives, HSF supports a more inclusive and capable 16th National Assembly—strengthening Vietnam’s future with exceptional female leaders.
